Cosmic Bliss Now Offers Dairy-Based Options. Why?

The beloved plant-based brand Coconut Bliss has lost its vegan status after releasing a dairy-based line, and rebranding as ‘Cosmic Bliss’. All vegan flavors will still be available, but will vegans continue to support the brand after this bold move? Keep reading so you can determine whether or not you’d like to continue enjoying Coconut Bliss’ selection of creamy non-dairy desserts.

The brand’s goal with this transformation is to reach a wider audience and introduce more people to sustainable eating. Their dairy-based selection is crafted with grass-fed milk, which according to the brand, fits their idea of a positive environmental impact that “supports sustainable agricultural practices.”

Apparently, 97% of the ice cream sold in the U.S. is dairy-based. This is likely a motivating factor in the brand’s decision. Although they can argue that expanding to a wider market will help more people discover their plant-based range as well, the name change indicates that this is a permanent switch.

We believe that it would’ve pleased their loyal vegan customers more to simply improve their original plant-based recipes. For example, brands like SoDelicious and Oatly have spent years developing their frozen desserts into products that are almost indistinguishable, if not even tastier than dairy-based ice cream. However, we also hope Cosmic Bliss’ move encourages more flexitarians to try their non-dairy products and make the switch.
