Vegan Chocolate Chip Banana Bread Recipe

Bananas are an amazing egg-replacer in baking, which makes banana bread the perfect vegan dessert. Try our healthy chocolate chip version, then save a few slices to take on the go!

Chocolate Chip Banana Bread

  • 1 cup all purpose flour

  • 1/2 cup whole wheat flour

  • 3 whole bananas (overly ripe)

  • 1/4 cup soy milk (vanilla)

  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder

  • 1/4 tsp baking soda

  • 3 tbsp olive oil (light)

  • 3/4 cup maple syrup

  • 1 tsp cinnamon (ground)

  • 1/4 tsp cardamom (ground)

  • 1 tsp sea salt

  • 3 tbsp vegan chocolate chips

  • 1/4 cup walnuts (crushed)

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F or 176°C.

  2. Combine all dry ingredients (except vegan chocolate chips and walnuts) in a bowl, and mix together.

  3. Combine wet ingredients and mashed bananas in a separate bowl, and mix well.

  4. Combine dry ingredients and wet ingredients in the same bowl, and mix together until all ingredients are well incorporated. Then, fold in chocolate chips and walnuts.

  5. Grease your baking pan with more olive oil, and pour your mixture into pan..

  6. Bake for about an hour, or until golden brown. Try using a toothpick to test the texture in the center of the loaf. If it comes out wet, bake for an additional 10 minutes, then test again until it comes out dry.
