Beyond Popcorn Chicken & Steak Are at All Sam's Club - OopsVegan

As of January 4th, Beyond Meat's Popcorn Chicken and Steak products were launched at all Sam's Clubs nationwide! This means vegan foods are now a lot more accessible to vegans and non-vegans across the country. Make sure to look for these yummy, convenient swaps next time you head out to the store!

Previously, these products were sold at all Kroger, Walmart, and Albertsons nationwide. Their Beyond Steak was also added to the Taco Bell menu as the fast food chain's new vegan "Beyond Carne Asada Steak" option. However, if Sam's Club is your supermarket of choice, you may no longer have to visit more than one store to get all the vegan meat substitutes you need!

If you haven't yet tried Beyond's Popcorn Chicken or Steak, you should know that both are incredibly high in protein (14g and 21g, respectively), low in calories (210 and 170), however a bit high in sodium (480mg and 300mg). They're also higher in fat (11g and 6g) than your typical whole, natural plant foods. That's why it could be wise to consume store-bought vegan substitutes only occasionally, as opposed to incorporating them into all your meals.

Overall, we would say Beyond Steak, made with wheat gluten and faba bean protein, has a better nutritional profile than Beyond Popcorn Chicken, which is made with wheat flour, wheat gluten, faba protein, and corn starch as its main ingredients. Nonetheless, both are crispy on the outside, and tender and juicy on the inside. So, feel free to use either one as a tasty and convenient swap if you ever get meaty cravings!

Both of Beyond's new meat swaps are also much better for our planet than conventional meat. This brand's products require significantly less water, land, energy, and produce fewer carbon emissions than their animal-based counterparts!

Other brands have also come out with their own plant-based substitutes for these popular meat-based foods. VFC and MorningStar Farms have both launched their own vegan versions of popcorn chicken using wheat and soy protein. Meanwhile, smaller brands like The Herbivorous Butcher, The Very Good Butchers, Fable, Better Chew, and Meatless Farm all offer vegan steak substitutes that rival the real thing!

However, none have come close to Beyond Meat's level of success. After all, huge investors like Bill Gates, Leonardo DiCaprio, Snoop Dogg, Kyrie Irving, and 12 major athletes have all been eager to contribute to the brand's popularity and accessibility.

Have you spotted Beyond Meat's new products at Sam's Club yet? How would you use them in your yummy plant-based recipes? Share your ideas in the comments below!
