Louis Vuitton Releases Biobased Shoes Made Out Of Corn!

Luxury brand Louis Vuitton is finally incorporating plant-based and renewable materials into their high-end pieces! Their first eco-design, the unisex Charlie sneaker is made out of 90% sustainable materials.

The shoes’ upper is made out of both recycled and bio-based materials, and the outsole is made with a corn-based bioplastic. In terms of design, they boast the brand’s signature logo on the outsole, tongue, and oversized initials on the side. Vegan, Italian-made, and crafted with the planet in mind, this pair is a breath of fresh air for the luxury fashion industry!

Additionally, the brand has launched a hi-top version of the sneaker called the Charlie Sneaker Boot, made with the same sustainable materials. The original model retails for $1080, while the boot version is listed at $1130.

This revolutionary sneaker marks the beginning of a turning point in high-fashion — more and more luxury brands like Stella McCartney, Gucci, Balenciaga, and Hugo Boss are now using renewable materials and aiming for carbon neutral production in the coming years.
