Novak Djokovic, 34, has recently won the Roland-Garros, claiming his 19th major title—and he’s crediting one of his major athletic advantages to his plant-based diet! He believes that his animal-free meals have made his recovery times faster, and is happy to be able to continue playing at this top level for his fourth consecutive year.

“Because of my family, I’ve always had a love for food. But as an athlete, it became something more—the fuel that determines how I play, how I recover and how alert I am on the court,” shared Djokovic. “I attribute a great deal of my professional success to my diet.”

In fact, the Association of Tennis Professionals has ranked Djokovic the world’s top player. However, it’s not just the health benefits and his athletic career that motivated him to switch over to a plant-based diet.

There is obviously a huge impact as well on climate change that people maybe don’t talk about as much. It’s more than a performance for me, it’s a lifestyle. Something that I’m really proud of and hopefully that community grows,

As an executive producer for the major plant-based documentary The Game Changers, he’s now set out to inspire others, and has even opened his own plant-based restaurant, Eqvita, located in Monte Carlo! This tennis star’s incredible ethical and sustainable journey is one to watch for years to come!
