Robert Downey Jr. Invests in Nobell Foods
Vegan cheese made with casein?! Nobell Foods’ team, along with their founder Magi Richani, have figured it out — the reason vegan cheese is typically not as stretchy and gooey as dairy cheese is because it lacks casein, the main protein found in cheese. That’s precisely why they created their own dairy-identical casein by genetically engineering soybeans! The result is the secret ingredient behind a block of melty, cheesy goodness that generates 90% less carbon emissions, and no animal suffering.
One celebrity investor interested in this groundbreaking development is Robert Downey Jr, who contributed to Nobell Foods’ total funding of $75M, through his group of investors, FootPrint Coalition Ventures.
The actor became interested in vegan food during the filming of Dolittle in 2020. Although he hasn’t mentioned veganism, he’s stated that he’s ditching meat for a plant-based lifestyle, out of concern for the current climate crisis. “I’m going plant-based! For cash and legumes,” he joked with Variety.
Nobell Foods’ cheese alternative is expected to perform wonderfully on pizza, in mac & cheese, and even on cheese boards, leaving no cravings for the real thing. The company plans on launching the final product by the end of 2022, or early 2023! Are you excited for the launch of this new vegan cheese? Comment below and let us know!
