Wild Earth Just Received $23 Million in Funding!
The plant-based pet food company Wild Earth has recently received major support from “Shark Tank” investor Mark Cuban, and other huge stars like Paul Wesley! These new funds will help the company develop new foods for both dogs and cats, as well as cell-based meats like beef, chicken, and seafood.
Wild Earth’s products are developed by veterinarians to be anti-allergy and currently made with entirely sustainable plant-based protein sources. They’re high in both protein and fiber, and loaded with tons of meaty, umami flavor to satisfy even the pickiest pups’ palates!
The main ingredient used in Wild Earth’s range of pet food is dried yeast, as it contains 10 of the 11 essential amino acids dogs need to live to their full health potential. Other protein sources used in their pet food include chickpeas, oats, peas, sweet potato, and flaxseeds.
Wild Earth has also ventured into supplements, offering varieties specifically formulated for hips and joints, digestion and immunity, as well as skin and coat. They even offer superfood doggy treats made with delicious ingredients like sustainable koji mushroom protein! This ingredient boasts the meaty flavor dogs love, while also providing loads of essential nutrients.
Pet-related sales have increased tremendously over the years, and it seems that this is due to the fact that pet owners are spending a lot more on their companions’ food. Ryan Bethencourt, Wild Earth’s CEO, believes this is the result of increasing concerns about their animals’ health and the alarming climate crisis.
“A lot of people are like, ‘Your customers are plant-based vegans and vegetarians,’ and actually they’re not,” stated Bethencourt. “Our customers are people that care about, first and foremost, the health of their animals, and secondly about sustainability.”
Although Wild Earth has been successful with their line of plant-based pet food, their venture into cell-based meats may mark the beginning of a sustainable, cruelty-free revolution within the pet food industry! The company has already begun scaling up production and developing their next new project — cell-based rabbit meat.
