Miyoko’s Creamery : Vegan Brand Focus

We need to start appealing more to flexitarians, creating products that give them the taste satisfaction of the real dairy cheeses they are used to.
— Miyoko Schinner

The vegan cheese and butter brand on a mission to craft kinder, greener, and healthier dairy alternatives.

Miyoko Schinner, known as the “Queen of Vegan Cheese”, founded Miyoko’s Creamery in an effort to align her compassion for animals with her love for rich French cheeses. It was her deep understanding for fine cuisine that enabled her to create her artisanal line of cashew and oat-based dairy-free delicacies.

What began as a small four-employee project in Miyoko’s home has become an empire of non-dairy cheese products in Sonoma, California. Today, Miyoko’s is one of the brands leading the dairy-free revolution with her irresistible cruelty-free artisanal cheese wheels, butters, and cream cheeses.

Why Do We Like Miyoko’s Creamery?

Miyoko Creamery Ethics

Ethics

The dairy industry may not seem harmful to animals. However, dairy cows are put under a lot of stress, pain, suffering, only to be sent to the slaughterhouse once they are no longer of use to the industry. Find out more about the reality of dairy farming here. By using creamy oat and cashew milks, Miyoko’s Creamery is able to craft a rich, creamy alternative to dairy cheese and butter. This is what makes Miyoko’s a kinder brand.

Sustainability

According to Miyoko’s team, it takes about 161 gallons of water to produce just 1 gallon of milk! Plus, 1 acre of land only yields 216 gallons of dairy milk. When compared to cashews, which only require rainwater to grow, and can yield a 2,333 lb. harvest with just 1 acre of land, we have a clear winner! This makes Miyoko’s products much greener than conventional dairy products.

Health

Not only are Miyoko’s products dairy-free, they are also non-GMO and organic. None of their butters or cheese products contain lactose, cholesterol, pesticides, or animal derivatives. That’s why Miyoko’s is a much healthier choice.
