Vegan Options at Paris’ Charles de Gaulles Airport (CDG)
Surprise — I’m in France! And considering I had a six-hour layover at the most popular airport in Paris, Charles de Gaulles (CDG), I thought I’d explore their vegan options. After a long stroll through the terminals, I became amazed at the variety of plant-based meals I found. Check it out!
Sushi Shop
The first restaurant we came across was Sushi Shop, which offered veggie rolls like the “California Yellow Veggie”, and the “Veggie Roll”. They also had a vegetable sandwich called the “Sando Veggie” and a poke bowl called “Poke Bowl Veggie”. Seeing a pattern here?
Some sides that caught our eye were the vegetarian gyozas, a carrot salad with citrus fruits, edamame, seaweed salad, and wasabi peas. And finally, for dessert they offer fresh fruits like pineapple, mango, and a seasonal fruit salad!
Pret A Manger
We also came across the famous Pret A Manger, where the vegan options were endless! Their vegan soups include a “Carrot & Spicy Coriander Soup”, “Thai Vegetable & Coconut Curry Soup”, “Mushroom Risotto Soup”, and “Small Peas & Mint Soup”. They also have wraps and baguettes — try the “Vegan Meatball Hot Wrap” or the “Avocado Baguette, Kalamata Olives & Dried Tomatoes”.
Their vegan salads include the “Small Edamame Jar, Tamari & Ginger Sauce” and the “Bowl Falafel Mezze”, which is not listed as vegan, but does not list any animal-derived ingredients.
We were also surprised at their extensive dessert options! Aside from fresh fruits like bananas, pineapple sticks, “Red Fruits”, “Melon & Blueberry”, or their fruit salad, you can order the “Coconut, Mango & Pomegranate Chia Pudding”, “Coconut & Blueberry Bowl”, or “Sunshine Bowl”. Additionally, their milk-based hot drinks can be ordered with soy, coconut-rice, or organic oat milk! Or, you could go for one of their fruit smoothies or iced green teas.
Yo! Sushi
Sushi seemed like a popular choice at this airport! However, Yo! Sushi features much more than just sushi. Although they offer vegan rolls like their “Avocado Maki”, “Yasai Roll”, and “Yasai Temaki”, they also serve plenty of 100% plant-based bowls and sides.
For instance, you could go for the “Tofu Katsu Curry”, “Shiitake Mushroom Ramen”, “Inari Taco” (tofu pockets filled with rice, veggies, ponzu salsa, and vegan sriracha mayo), or “Pumpkin Katsu/Katsu Curry”.
Got a little extra time? Try an entrée, like their “Kaiso Seaweed” or “Vegetable Gyoza”!
Bert’s Cafe
Need a place to relax or catch up on some work during your layover? Bert’s Cafe is just the place! While you’re at it, make sure to grab one of their vegan bites, like the “Vegan Poke Bowl” (ask for no honey to veganize); the “Veggie Power Salad” featuring brocamole, sweet potatoes, lentils, and bulgur; or some fresh fruit.
Exki Nature’s Kitchen
We finally settled on Exki, a sustainable restaurant that makes plants the focus of each meal. However, they also have tons of entirely plant-based options! For example, you can try their organic bread, fresh fruits, “Casablanca Bowl”, “Green Energy Bowl”, or the “Indian Vegan Bowl” (pictured).
We went with the Indian Vegan Bowl, which included jasmine rice, tofu, sweet potatoes, yellow curry vegetables, a cashew-based sauce, and plenty of fresh veg. Magnifique!
