Visiting Végestal Vegan Boutique in Rennes, France!
Earlier this month, I was on vacation in Brittany, France, visiting Emmanuel’s side of the family. During our stay in the Northwest of France, we decided to go out exploring the vegan options in the area! What we came across was a lovely specialty vegan grocery store located in Rennes called ‘Végéstal’. This cozy boutique features plenty of fresh produce, vegan substitutes and treats, as well as books, cruelty-free self care products, and eco-friendly cleaning products!
Some ‘veganized’ French foods that caught our eye were their vegan foie gras, pâté, and wonderful artisanal cheeses. Although I’d never had traditional pâté, as a life-long vegetarian, I thought the version they offered was so incredibly delicious! And what we loved most of all is that everything in the store is entirely palm oil-free, and 80% of the products are labeled organic!
I also had the opportunity to speak with the owner, Lola Dumont, who set up the shop three years ago to bring awareness to the vegan cause. She was delightful, and we’re so glad she has created this beautiful animal-friendly wonderland in the heart of Rennes! We even brought back some of that delicious pâté, to continue enjoying it at home on crusty bread and crackers.
